We can always count on our Pine Bluff ALSEA teachers to make learning fun. Scholars are learning that math is everywhere! A special shout out to Hayle who was the first one to finish her "Figure Me Out" math project. Great job, guys!

Ms. Harris's art lesson today was a slam dunk! These ALSEA scholar art pieces are golden!

Who knew that there was so much to learn about rice? The Arkansas rice breeding program is a key component for maintaining a viable rice industry and our scholars got to learn all about rice variations at the Rosen Greenhouse at the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences this week.

Ms. Meredith's ALSEA class had a blast learning about reactions. Watching those balloons fill up is so much fun! Just look at those smiles!

Mrs. Whited's ALSEA class has Literacy "in the bag!" They're learning about Creative Writing by making puppets with fun writing prompts and by creating their own cardboard set to act out their stories. What a fun way to learn!

Did you know that rice is the top agricultural export in our state and that Arkansas farmers produce more than 9 billion pounds of it a year? Scholars got to see some of it up close and personal while touring the UofA greenhouses.

Our Capital City ALSEA scholars and staff started out the week on a bright note! We love seeing our scholars learning and having fun!

Our scholars are having a blast at the University of Arkansas Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. And look who they ran into on their tour - we might be biased, but we think they look great by these Tusks statues!

ALSEA has officially begun! There were so many smiles, so much laughter, and so much fun at all of our schools today. Thank you to all ALA staff for making today an outstanding first day!
Mr. Cosio and Mrs. Cuebas visited all of the campuses today for Day 1 of ALSEA! During their visit they "caught" several teachers going above and beyond to make today a memorable and exciting start to ALSEA 2022. Huge shout out to:
Mr. Thomas - Pine Bluff
Ms. Rhymes - Pine Bluff
Ms. Davis - Capital City
Mr. Bledsoe - Capital City
Ms. Adkins - Flightline
Ms. Strange - Flightline
Mr. Waits - Jacksonville
Mrs. Whited - Jacksonville
Each of these teachers received a $5.00 Starbucks gift card! Keep up the great work and let's see who gets "caught" next week!

As ALSEA gets ready to kick off tomorrow, we'd like to remind families that doors will open at 7:45 am with classes starting at 8:00 am. Dismissal is at 3:00 pm and we ask that all scholars are picked up by 3:15 pm. Breakfast and lunch will be served daily, but you are welcome to pack a nutritious lunch of your own as well. Please remember to send water bottles and a healthy afternoon snack with your scholars. We look forward to seeing all of our ALSEA scholars tomorrow!
ALSEA scholars will have a visit from Miss University of Arkansas.
Taryn Bewley is currently @missuniversityofarkansas and passionate about her social impact initiative, Literacy Is THE Answer. In her time competing in the Miss Arkansas program she has donated over 8,000 books throughout Arkansas, and has been awarded the Jessie Ward Bennett Leadership Award as well as the Marilyn Hogue Community Service Award two years in a row. She has earned over $17,000 in her time competing, and has finished her first year of law school without paying any money out of pocket thanks to the scholarship dollars provided by the Miss Arkansas organization. She was 4th Runner Up to Miss Arkansas this past year, and will be returning to Miss Arkansas this summer.
We excited she will be joining our scholars and staff this week to kick of ALSEA. Literacy Is THE Answer.
