We are building our scholars 365 days a year! This weekend, 21 of our high school scholars visited Philander Smith for a Social Justice workshop, then UCA to fellowship at the UCA vs. UAPB game. This Beyond the Walls experience was powered by our partnership with @Pulaski County Youth Services and the Social Justice Institute at Philander Smith.

We are excited to announce Mr. Thurman Green III as our District Family and Community Engagement Coordinator. Thurman brings eight years of education and community experience to our ALA Family. We are truly excited to see our Community Engagement work grow under his leadership.

Today our seniors went on their first Beyond the Walls experience! They were able to learn about technical careers at Pulaski Tech, Entrepreneurship opportunities at the Innovation Hub, and traditional 4-year colleges at UA-Little Rock. What a blast they had regardless of the heat!

Ms. Scales, School Office Manager and Mrs. Frazier, Family Engagement Coordinator at Jacksonville Lighthouse Elementary wanted to make sure we
shoutout Hospice Home Care. They donated school supplies including the superhero backpacks. They didn’t even know our theme was superheroes but made sure our scholars have cool supplies for the year.

Capital City Lighthouse Elementary Academy set the tone for the day with a Beyond the Walls field trip.
The 2nd graders worked out first day jitters, anxiety, and nervousness by visiting a few career fields throughout Little Rock. We want to motivate our scholars that they can and will achieve anything that they put their minds to. They have been encouraged to work hard this year from a member of each occupation so that they can get to where they want to be in life.
Scholars made stops at the following locations:
Lighthouse Academies District Office:
Central Fire Station
Police Station
Chick-fil-A (Met the owner):
Post Office
